1. The mission of the YMCA is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that help healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Core Values: Caring: to demonstrate a sincere concern for others, for their needs and well-being

2. In my own words, the problems that these statements imply is that it might turn people away because of the organizations beliefs.

 3. I think the fact that the YMCA is a christian based non-profit is good in theory because they are spreading their religious beliefs into their program. The only thing I would change is the name of the YMCA, because it stands for Young Mens Christian Association, and in reality there are just as many females working and attending the YMCA as there are males.

    I agree with your opinion on how their beliefs might conflict with the community's outlook. Young Men Christian Association sounds so strong and bias even though the YMCA is very inclusive.

There are many similarities and differences between these letters. For example, some of the letters have similar pictures, except for "United We Dream." Another similarity is that they are all written in bold and italicized font, and have a personal intro. However, YIA and Downcity didn't have personal introductions, and YIA contained a lot of writing in the main part of the email as compared to the other organizations. Also, Downcity is the only group who named and thanked the 2017 funders. Lastly, all of the organizations except for YIA had facts which included numbers and stats. The organizations used many tools such as bold/italicized words and sentences to show the severity and need of their cause. They all have photos of people who have been impacted by the different organizations, the International Rescue Committee in particular. Basically the people who work in the social justice system have to fight for government funding for their programs and it is completely unfair. In the process of fighting for government funding for their programs, this takes time away from fulfilling their nonprofit's mission and defeats the whole purpose of "nonprofits".The issue is that these nonprofit organization have been more concerned with staying in business, that they forget why they created this nonprofit in the first place (social justice) The main critiques of the nonprofit sector is that they spend too much time trying to raise money and ask the government to fund their programs.
